Kids With A Promise - Hobby House Renovation

In connection with the KWAP Chapel renovation project, Design42 undertook the redesign and revitalization of the Kids With A Promise Hobby House, a pre-existing 1,000-square-foot structure on the site. This endeavor was a testament to our commitment to fostering creative and educational opportunities for the community, particularly the children and youth engaged in the KWAP program.

The existing Hobby House was in a state of disrepair, which presented a unique challenge and an opportunity for transformation. Our team approached this project with a vision of creating a dynamic and inspiring space where young minds could explore their artistic talents and passions. To achieve this, we executed a comprehensive renovation that breathed new life into the structure.

Regrading the site was a crucial step in the renovation process. This not only improved the aesthetics of the site but also addressed drainage issues, ensuring that the surrounding landscape was more functional and visually appealing. The regraded site provided a solid foundation for the redesigned entrance at the center of the Hobby House. It was designed to be a warm and welcoming gateway to creativity and self-expression.

Furthermore, the project made innovative use of the exterior spaces on either end of the Hobby House. These areas were transformed into outdoor summer craft spaces, where young artists could take their creativity outdoors and engage with nature while working on their projects. These outdoor spaces were carefully designed to be versatile and flexible, allowing for various types of craft activities and gatherings.

The renovation of the Kids With A Promise Hobby House was a labor of love for Design42. It represented our commitment to creating spaces that empower and inspire young individuals through art and creative expression. By reimagining the existing structure, optimizing the site, and introducing innovative outdoor spaces, we aimed to provide a holistic environment where the potential for artistic growth and exploration could flourish. This project not only enriched the KWAP program but also contributed to the broader goal of nurturing talent and fostering a sense of community through art.
