Our Staff

Dan Henkel, RA

Principal/Architect

Dan Henkel founded Design42 Architecture in 2003. He obtained his Bachelor of Architecture degree from Syracuse University and is licensed in NY, NJ, PA, CT, ME, DE, MD, DC, VA, NC, VT and NH with twenty years of experience on a wide range of light commercial and residential projects. His interests have always pointed towards sustainable design and careful consideration of the environmental impact of building. In serving Design42’s clients he has become increasingly sensitive to working on projects with unique limitations and restricted budgets. He has also served on a Committee for the Habitat for Humanity Greater Jersey City chapter as well as Board President of the Palisades Emergency Residence Corporation in Union City, NJ. Dan is currently the Board President of the Clinton Housing Development Company in Hell's Kitchen.

Thomas Scibilia, RA

Project Manager/Architect

Thomas is a registered architect in New York, and brings more than a decade of invaluable experience to the Design42 team. His journey through various architectural firms has cultivated a well-rounded and rich understanding of the architectural industry, spanning practice, design, technology, code compliance, zoning regulations, and construction methodologies. A graduate of Pratt Institute, Thomas earned his Bachelor of Architecture degree, providing him with a strong educational foundation to complement his practical expertise. His passion for architecture and unwavering commitment to excellence are evident in every project he undertakes.

Swasti Mishra

Architectural/Interior Designer

Swasti is an architectural and interior designer with over 17 years of experience. With a professional degree in architecture and a master's in planning, she brings a wide range of experience in interior designing, architecture and planning. Additionally, she served as visiting faculty in multiple architectural institutes. Her work includes commercial, residential and institutional projects, few of which were featured in local and state publications. With experience working in both the USA and India, she excells at being taking the design from start to finish with efficient coordination with engineers, clients, contractors, corporate and other stakeholders to produce documents necessary for successful completion of a project. She is passionate about detailing, researching, writing and exploring sustainable design and life solutions within constrained budgets.
